Davos is a unique place where exciting adventures meet tranquillity. The picturesque Graubünden region offers exciting activities such as paragliding, golf, cycling routes and snowboard parks.

However, the true essence of Switzerland is revealed while hiking along the picturesque trails. After an eventful day, enjoy the atmosphere of luxury shopping, relaxing spa treatments, gastronomic discoveries and vibrant nightlife. Don't miss the opportunity to admire Lake Davos's crystal-clear waters, visit the Kirchner Museum or take the funicular to Schatzalp.

The best time to visit Davos

If you are planning a trip to Davos, it is worth thinking about the best time to visit this charming place to get the most out of your trip. Here are some recommendations on what time of year to plan your visit:

Winter

For those who love skiing and winter activities, the winter season is the perfect time to visit Davos. From December to March, there are excellent skiing conditions and a festive feeling, especially during events such as the Spengler Cup. However, be prepared for higher prices and a large number of tourists during this peak season, which may affect your trip.

Summer

If you enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling, summer is the best time to visit Davos. From June to September, the weather is mild and the surrounding landscapes are filled with greenery. There are a variety of festivals and outdoor events during this time. You will also find more affordable accommodation options compared to the winter season, making the summer months especially attractive.

April - May and October - November

Spring and autumn are great times to avoid the crowds and take advantage of lower accommodation prices. From April to May, nature awakens and you can enjoy the flowering plants and pleasant weather. In autumn, from October to November, Davos delights with its picturesque palette of autumn colours. However, keep in mind that some attractions may have reduced opening hours during these seasons, so it is worth planning your itinerary in advance.

Kirchner's World

Do you want to discover the creative universe of the legendary German expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner? Head to the museum that preserves his legacy. The founder of the Die Brücke group spent the last years of his life in Davos, capturing the harsh beauty of the Alps in his paintings. The unique cultural space, opened in 1980, has collected more than 1,400 works by the master under its roof - this is the largest collection in the world, where each painting becomes a dialogue between the genius and the mountain landscapes.

The Magic of Lake Davos

In the north-east of the city lies the pearl of Switzerland – Lake Davos. Its crystal waters, framed by dense forests and emerald slopes, warm up to +20°C in summer, inviting guests to kayak, SUP surfing or meditative walks along the shore. In winter, the lake turns into a surreal landscape, where the silence is broken only by the crunch of snow under skis.

Hiking and active recreation in Davos

Take the cable car up to Jakobshorn, Parsenn or Schatzalp and explore three main hiking areas with more than 700 km of marked trails. It is also a popular destination for mountain bikers, as Davos-Klosters is famous for its trails.

In Davos, you will find many picturesque forest trails, offering a variety of routes for walks and hikes. Thematic routes with information boards are also available, allowing you to learn more about the local nature and culture. Don’t miss the Sculpture Trail with impressive installations by Swiss artists.

If you’re planning on mountain biking, there are routes for all skill levels, including the route from Gotschnaboden to Klosters. You can also book an electric mountain bike tour to see all the beauty of Davos and its surroundings.

For winter sports enthusiasts, Davos is a paradise. At altitudes from 1,124 to 2,844 m, you’ll find exciting slopes and ski runs, as well as picturesque winter hiking trails. More than 50 ski lifts provide easy access to the most popular ski resorts, including Parsenn and Jakobshorn. Don’t forget to visit the ice rinks for ice hockey and ice skating.
